I am an experienced trekker and hiker. I enjoy taking photographs and travelling. I prefer wilderness and remote places. Travel often as much as I can. Prefer off-season as less people around. Winter is always a great time. Happy to share local knowledge about the beautiful island of Tasmania. I support humanitarian and Human Rights causes and spend much of my time working pro-bono for and in developing countries. View all posts by mark's travel notes

I just did a post for you. The first time we went we stayed at Hotel Access. Very central and good staff. Great breakfast outside. The second time on way back we stayed at a small boutique hotel called the Ambassador Garden Hotel. It was nice to have a bit of luxury after the trek. You can just see it in the top photo on my blog. The guy standing in the strip of light is like the doorman, There’s is a little garden. There is an ATM just there too, it is right next door to Hotel Access. Neither were affected by the quake.
